I was about to reply to a post in this thread with a clever observation, then realised the post in question was from 14 YEARS AGO. Fuck it, I'm not going to reply to a post that is old enough to go to secondary school.

at least give the point of view. Point of view is, what would you have done if you were Guigs, Murphs? Would you stand by your old mate, get off the merry-go-round and back to the dole? Or you'd be a good plank, stay out of internecine conflict and keep touring the world, having basically the best life ever and saving up enough money to retire in your early 30s? There's people out there who would happily stab you in the arse for a shitty 9-5 office job in Luton, nevermind being part of the best band in the world.

That James Hargreaves cunt, have you seen the interviews with Guig's mrs? or his sister, I forget. Probably his sister.
She calls out Tony & Chris Hutton's books for having a lot of bullshit written about Guigs that is completely fabricated. Now, I know she may not be a reliable source either. But it's hard to hold decisions made (or not made) by young men in their 20's against them.

I mean, Eds, Guigs was holding on to that job in Oasis for dear life. Once they signed the record deal he knew that everyone in the band except Noel & Liam became disposable. At that point the only reason they were in the band was because Noel liked them as geezers. Also the situation was very new to all of them - they were a bunch of mates on the dole who had just turned into a very profitable company, with contracts and a supposed 'chief' and shit. It's not easy to deal with that when you are in your 20s. Mind you, I still love Tony and I think without him Oasis never sounded as well as they sounded with him. The Oasis sound that we all loved owes much more to Tony than it does to Guigs or Bonehead. And I do believe everything he wrote in the book to be the truth. Liam came out as the only true spartan because he was probably the only other member whose job was guaranteed even if he actually snapped Noel in two. But I guess it's easier to be a stand up guy when you know won't be losing anything.

“Everything he wrote in that book was truth”
Including the bit in 1995 when he’s going on about watching DVDs?
