Sony has revealed the PlayStation 4 in full at E3 2013. It is priced at $399 (£349/€399) - $100 cheaper than the US retail price for Xbox One, and £80 cheaper than the UK RRP. It has also been announced that the PS4 will place no restrictions on used games. Disc-based titles can be traded in at retail, sold to another person or lent to a friend. The console does not need an 'always-on' internet connection and will not require online authentication, Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Jack Tretton confirmed. PlayStation's cloud-based gaming service Gaikai will launch in the US during 2014, starting with a catalogue of acclaimed PS3 games.

wtf. might start joining hehe in the xbox one club. n an in-depth Q&A published on the PlayStation Europe blog, the company revealed the bad news, raising serious questions about the device’s merits as a versatile living room media device. Earlier this year Sony admitted the PS4 won't support audio CDs, so the lack of MP3 support means users will not be able to play their personal collections on the console, unless they’re subscribed to Sony’s own Music Unlimited subscription service. Strangely, there’s no music visualiser built into the console either. Streaming media content from other devices is a no-go too. Unlike the current PS3, the console also lacks DLNA and media server support, so users won’t be able to share content from their home PC. In an even larger bombshell, the PS4 will not support external hard drives either, so users will not be able to expand the built-in 500GB storage or plug in a second drive in order to play content. “No this feature is not supported by PS4,” wrote Sony several times in the Q&A blog.

so the ps4's 500gb hard drive only has just over 400gb of usable space? that's MENTAL, this stuff needs to be outlawed imo. the number on the box should be the number you can use.

it's bollocks. everyone does it but i can't think of a worse case than this ever. over 90gb of a 500gb drive unusable, almost 20% of the total space. surprised that's even allowed, tbh.

yeah they all do it. still not made me mind up yet. i'll have splinters up me arse soon. not that hard a choice is it? ps4 is cheaper, a little bit more powerful and historically playstation exclusive games have been better than xbox ones. but they'll both be good and unless you're the sort of mentally ill person who has a strong preference for one hugely rich company over an other, neither are likely to be shit,.
